The latest addition to the 2016 Audi A4 range has arrived in Australia in the form of the crossover-styled A4 Allroad quattro.
As with previous Audi Allroads, the latest A4 Allroad takes the regular wagon, adds a healthy dose of plastic cladding to the bumpers and wheel arches, and raises the ride height to give the prestige wagon a more adventure-oriented look.
Under the bonnet lives either a 2.0 litre turbocharged patrol four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 185kW and 370Nm of torque, or from November a 2.0 litre turbo diesel rated at 140kW and 400Nm.
Both engines are paired with Audi’s quattro all wheel drive system with the petrol version debuting “ultra technology” a multi-mode on-demand system with user configurable settings, and the diesel making use of a permanently engaged system.
Petrol and diesel engines mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission.
Audi has also made adaptive suspension an option for the first time on the A4 allroad, allowing the suspension to adjust in response to changing road conditions. The A4 allroad rides in suspension raised by 23mm, and combined with a larger wheel package on 18-inch rims, results in an extra 34mm of ground clearance compared to the regular A4 Avant.
Standard features include leather seats, with electric adjustment for the front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, three-zone climate-control, aluminium trim highlights, front and rear floor mats, extendable luggage net, and rear door window sunblinds.
Entertainment is provided by an 8.3-inch display packed with satellite navigation, 10GB of media storage, 10-speaker audio, Audi Connect Wi-Fi with Google Services, and CD/DVD player.
Those looking for a richer experience can add a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, which Audi claims is the first in the segment to offer 3D sound, as well as the availability of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster display.
Standard safety systems include eight airbags, a pedestrian-protecting pop-up bonnet, autonomous braking, driver fatigue detection, front and rear outboard seatbelt pretensioners, stability control, and ABS brakes.
