The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder spied has been spied putting in a few laps on the Nürburgring.
Set to go on sale sometime next year, the redesigned model is heavily influenced by the coupe but adopts a retractable soft top, a ventilated engine cover and an upright rear windscreen. Additional changes are limited but we can expect a modestly revised interior with new switchgear for the roof.
Power will be provided by a 5.2-liter V10 engine that has outputs of 540 PS (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque as well as 610 PS (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The standard R8 Coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds so expect the Spyder to be a few ticks slower. Likewise, the R8 Spyder should be able to rocket from 0-100 km/h in a little over 3.2 seconds.
