Audi honors 24H Nurburgring win via R8 V10 Plus limited series image
A special edition of the R8 V10 Plus supercar has been prepared by Audi to celebrate the 2015 24H Nurburgring triumph brought home by the R8 LMS model.
Last year the new generation of the GT3 version took the win at the 24 Hours Nurburgring as a winning debut and now the road-legal R8 in its flagship V10 Plus trim has been turned into a special series to celebrate the accomplishment. Named the “selection 24h” special edition, this R8 is also an homage to Audi’s 323 wins taken home between the two generations of the R8 LMS since the first generation debuted on the world’s circuit’s back in 2009. The special run will involve just 24 units and the R8 V10 Plus “selection 24h” will bring a wide array of mechanical updates, such as dynamic steering, adaptive damper control, and the high-tech laser headlights. It will still use the mid-mounted, naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine bringing 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) for an acceleration time to 62 mph (100 km/h) of just 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).
To set it apart from the regular model, the Audi R8 V10 Plus “selection 24h” wears a tricolor paint scheme with Suzuka gray as the base and mythos black and Misano red highlights that recall the R8 LMS. Other highlights include a glossy black carbon fiber finish for the front spoiler mirror caps, rear wing, diffuser, and engine cover, while the side blades have a “R8 24h” logo. We also noticed the 20-inch forged wheels with a 10-spoke Y design and an anthracite glossy black finish. Inside the cockpit we can tell you there will be leather upholstery in rotor gray and air vents as well as extended inlays of the digital instrument cluster adorned with a CFRP look. The illuminated sills us a glossy carbon trim and they are individually numbered from one to 24. There are also entry light projectors with the Audi R8 logo, so far exclusive to this special version, though it should become available later on for the standard model as well. In Germany the R8 Coupe V10 plus “selection 24h” goes from €229,000, which is almost 40,000 more euros than the regular R8 Coupe V10 plus.
