Audi Likely To Launch New-Gen A5 And S5 Sportback In India

Adding to its already wide portfolio, Audi India might soon launch the new-gen A5 and the S5 Sportback in the country. Audi revealed the cars earlier this month and according to latest import reports, the Ingolstadt-based luxury carmaker recently imported single units of both the new Audi A5 35 TDI and the petrol S5 Sportback to India for homologation. Currently, the carmaker only offers the S5 Sportback in India, while the A5 will be an all-new model.

Both the models are yet to make their first public appearance, which will happen at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, early next month. Their arrival in the country even before their global debut indicates that Audi India plans to launch the cars as soon as possible. In fact, a few months back, we even spotted the new A5 Sportback in India, which was imported for testing purpose. While we have yet to confirm this from the company, Audi will most likely launch both cars together, by mid- or late-2017.

Both the new A5 and S5 coming that have come to India are the four-door versions and comes with similar styling and features. While globally the S5 Sportback comes in a two-door version as well, launching that variant in India might eat up the sales of the Audi TT, which is priced very similarly. Based on the company’s MLB platform, the new-gen models come with a slightly longer wheelbase and more dynamic styling. Some of the key changes made to the cars’ exterior profile include – short overhangs, wraparound domed hood with muscular creases, and a new single-frame grille. The cars also come with Audi’s signature Matrix LED headlamps and a sporty front bumper that house the large air intakes and the small round fog lamps.
