Audi Q2 Teaser 2 Front Three Quarters
We’ve known for a little while now that a new crossover would join the Audi range this year, and now we have conformation that the new Audi Q2 will show its face to the world at the Geneva auto show next month. As you can probably presume from its name, the Q2 will be the smallest crossover in the range, joining the existing Q3, Q5, and Q7 models. Thanks to a teaser photo showing the Q2 under a sheet, we can tell that this new Audi will be a four-door crossover with a relatively conventional hatchback silhouette. LED-accented headlights up front flank what looks like Audi’s new “singleframe” grille shape, while a rising character line along the sides is vaguely visible under the cover. It’s hard to tell at this point how the Q2 will compare in size to the Q3, which is 172.6 inches long and competes with crossovers like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. We previously reported that the next Audi Q3 would grow larger, making more room for a smaller SUV to sit below it in the lineup. Another teaser video of the Audi Q2 shows it driving on a dirt road from afar (see below). But don’t expect Audi’s smallest SUV to pack much off-road capability, as it’s likely to ride on a version of the MQB modular platform that also underpins the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Expect a whole range of gas and diesel four-cylinder engines for Europe, with the U.S. most likely to get a version powered by either a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter gasoline turbo-four routed through Quattro all-wheel drive. Keep an eye out for more news on the Audi Q2 as we get closer to its official reveal at the Geneva auto show at the beginning of March.
