Audi has kicked off a teaser campaign for its new Q2 small SUV, ahead of a likely appearance at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
In a slight twist to what fans may have expected from a teaser campaign, Audi makes it clear that the model in question will sit below the Q3 in the carmaker’s SUV range.
But fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the new model will be disappointed to learn that only an empty parking space is on show.
Still, the teaser image nicely portrays how the Q2 should compare size-wise to its larger Q3, Q5 and Q7 sisters.
Audi may yet spring a surprise in Geneva by unveiling a new sub-compact Q1 SUV, but rumours out of Europe heavily favour the Q2.
The German carmaker recently gained the use of both the Q2 and Q4 names from Fiat Chrysler, after the latter initially declined Audi’s request to release the names.
The Q2 is said to be “radically” styled, with Audi looking to attract young buyers to its SUV brand.
As with other Audi SUVs, expect a mix of front- and quattro all-wheel-drive, with power coming from both three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
A future Audi Q2 is yet to be confirmed for an Australian launch, but given the current popularity of SUVs in the local market – particularly small SUVs – you can bet Audi Australia has already done the maths on a local debut.
