Audi has released yet another teaser for the Q2, this time around it’s a video with an aerial view of the baby crossover.
Audi’s smallest crossover is continuing its slow march to an official reveal in Geneva, but not before a lengthy string of teasers to generate more hype. The 16-second clip reveals what appears to be a fresh yellow paint set to debut on the Q2 while the body design will have very much in common with the other members of the Q family.
The previous teaser published only a few days ago showed the front and rear of the crossover hiding its sharp design lines underneath a car cover. Don’t hold your breath for something truly fresh as the Q2 will only mirror the most recent Audi crossovers which focus on a more angular appearance.
As far as the underpinnings are concerned, the Audi Q2 will ride on an adaptation of the flexible MQB modular platform and will come with standard front-wheel drive. An optional quattro setup will be offered on the beefier engines at an additional cost.
Since we’re on the subject of engines, the lineup will likely kick off with a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder like the one seen in the SEAT Ateca. A larger 1.4 TSI is also expected along with a couple of turbodiesels, including the familiar 1.6 and 2.0 TDIs. Depending on engine choice, a six-speed manual transmission and a DSG will be available.
An online reveal is expected to occur in the next several days before the youth-oriented Q2 will be unveiled to the public on March 1 at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It’s bound to go on sale in the second half of the year in Europe and will likely cost significantly more than the A1 Sportback, but obviously less than a Q3.
