Where the coupe goes, the Spyder will follow

Audi yanked the top off its all-wheel drive R8 supercar at the New York auto show on Wednesday. It gets the same 5.2-liter V10 as the coupe and the same seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission.

A carbon and aluminum Audi Space Frame supports the body while a lightweight cloth roof extends over the cockpit. It can be raised and lowered in 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 31 mph.

Inside, as with the coupe, the R8 Spyder gets a race-inspired cabin with Audi’s virtual cockpit and easy-to-reach steering wheel controls.

The R8 Spyder will be produced in Neckarsulm, Germany. Pricing info and full specs will be released at a later date.
