Audi teases 2017 A5 coupe
Audi has published a pair of teaser images that preview the new 2017 A5 Coupe.
Few will be surprised to find out that the next A5’s design will be more of an evolution than a revolution. The images show that its front end falls in line with the new 2017 A4, but its overall silhouette appears to carry over from the existing model with only minor tweaks.
The A5 will ride on Volkswagen‘s MLB Evo platform. Engines will be carried over from the A4, meaning it will come standard with a 2.0-liter TFSI engine rated at 252 horsepower. Buyers after more power will need to step up to the S5, which will use the S4’s 354-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter V6.
The 2017 Audi A5 Coupe will make its official debut on June 2nd at an event held in Ingolstadt, Germany, where the carmaker’s largest factory is located. It’s scheduled to go on sale in the United States by the end of the year as a 2017 model.
The A5 will launch as a coupe, but it will quickly be joined by a convertible model and by a four-door fastback dubbed A5 Sportback. While the current Sportback has never been sold in the United States, Audi has all but confirmed that the next-gen model will be offered here.
