Audi has released the first teaser image of a new Q model, likely getting its official premiere in Geneva early next month.
What we’ve got here is a picture shared by Audi through its official Facebook page, showing the Q3, Q5, and Q7 SUVs parked in an underground garage. The only available parking spot is reserved for a car that is coming “soon.”
While the teaser is pretty uninformative, the fact that the cars are parked in ascending order makes us believe the German company is talking about the future entry-level SUV in its lineup. We still don’t know its name, but most likely it will wear the Q1 moniker as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles isn’t willing to let Audi use the Q2.
We expect the model to hit the dealerships in the second half of 2017 so chances are the automaker will bring a concept previewing the production vehicle to Geneva.
Based on a shortened version of the MQB platform, the Q1 will be offered with a front-wheel drive, but an AWD system will be optionally available. At launch, several familiar diesel and petrol engines will be available, while an SQ1 range-topping model is expected to join the range at a later date. Prices will likely start at around $28,235 (€25,000).
