Audi’s suspended top engineer, Hackenberg, quits

MUNICH — Audi‘s top engineer, Ulrich Hackenberg, has stepped down from his post more than two months after he was suspended amid Volkswagen Group’s emissions scandal.

Hackenberg, who was Audi’s head of research and development, has left the company by “mutual agreement” and will be replaced by Stefan Knirsch, head of engine development, Audi said in a statement released after a supervisory board meeting Thursday. He will be replaced by Stefan Knirsch, head of engine development.
