B&B Automobiltechnik gets the 2016 Audi A4 Avant to menacing status image
The German aftermarket specialist is among the first ones to deploy a customization program for the all new generation 2016 Audi A4 Avant.
Audi unleashed the A4 in its new B9 generation in sedan and Avant body styles not even a year ago and now the first adopters can have a modified four-ringed estate version if they go for B&B’s program. The power kits have been prepared for a number of engine options. We can start with the most popular, the 2.0 TDI, which can be taken from the regular 190 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton meters) to 230 hp (170 kW) and 340 lb-ft (460 Nm) if the buyer shells out €1,198. They can also go for the stage 2 kit and the turbodiesel unit will deliver 250 hp (184 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) for €2,950.
The stronger 3.0 TDI is also present on the list. The series 272 hp (200 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) has been massaged for 310 hp (228 kW) and 495 lb-ft (670 Nm) for €1,698. B&B has the stage 2 kit here as well, taking things up a notch to 326 hp (240 kW) and a torquetastic 513 lb-ft (695 Nm) if you’re willing to spend €1,950. Here we also have the stage 3 which brings the turbodiesel six-cylinder engine to 350 hp (257 kW) and 535 lb-ft (725 Nm) for €3,950. With this latter modification, the A4 Avant will run to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds (down from 5.4s) and max out at 171 mph / 275 km/h (up from 155 mph / 250 km/h).
The gasoline units haven’t been forgotten either. The 2.0 TFSI with 252 hp (185 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) can reach 300 hp (220 kW) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) for €1,298 during the stage 1 conversion. Another 500 euros on top for the stage 2 will spew 320 hp and 339 lb-ft (460 Nm). The top of the line stage 3 kit needs €7,950 and will unleash 365 hp (268 kW) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm). The owners can also mod the S4 Avant and its brand new V6 3.0 TFSI with 54 hp (260 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) will be tweaked by B&B for 400 hp (294 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) for €1,950; 430 hp (316 kW) and 432 lb-ft (585 Nm) in the stage 2 kit (€2,950) and a full supercar-level 450 hp (331 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) for just €5,950 in the stage 3 program.
Additional goodies include software optimizations to the seven-speed S tronic and eight-speed Tiptronic gearboxes no matter the selected package and B&B will get you free of the electronic-limiter constraints, while also adding in a sport spring set (€398) that brings the car down by 35 mm. Design tweaks include beefy exhaust tips and a selection of bespoke alloy wheels in 19- and 20-inch sizes. The packs are completed with high-performance brakes, coilover suspension, and an extra oil cooling system.
