Bentley still undecided on second SUV vs. EXP 10 Speed 6
Bentley is still undecided on wether to put a second SUV or the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept (pictured) into production.
Crossovers seemingly represent a sure bet as the segment continues to outpace cars, while the Speed 6 has been particularly well received since its unveiling at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
“The feedback on this car was so phenomenal that we now have the task of deciding what we will do first,” Bentley chief Wolfgang Dürheimer told Autocar. “We are working on both. If we had limitless money and manpower, I would do both at the same time.”
The wording suggests both models will eventually roll off the assembly line. Earlier reports point to the crossover as the more likely candidate in the near term, arriving as a smaller sibling to the Bentayga.
If or when the Speed 6 heads to production, it is expected to be powered by an Audi-derived V8. An all-electric variant is also said to be under consideration, with dual motors sending power to all four wheels. Dürheimer has hinted that an EV could boast ‘stunning’ performance, potentially capable of topping 200 mph and driving for more than 300 miles between charging.
The small crossover is expected to arrive in showrooms sometime in 2018, while the Speed 6-based coupe will likely be stalled until 2020 or later.
