One of the five most influential women of the 20th century and, at some point, the most photographed person on the planet, Lady Diana enjoyed her cars, including this Audi Cabriolet.
Supplied new by Dovercourt Audi of St. Johns Wood and first registered on March 7, 1994, the vehicle is finished in Gomera Pearl and features Parchment leather and cream carpets. Under the hood it uses a new-for-that-time 2.3-liter, five-cylinder engine, mated to an automatic transmission.
After driving it for roughly 4,000 miles (6,437 km), the Audi was returned to Dovercourt, a few months later, from where it was bought by Ian Campbell Dale, a political commentator, broadcaster, publisher and author, who kept it in immaculate condition. A couple of years later, the car ended up in the possession of his third owner, who kept it until 2013, when the vendor has bought it.
Now, 21 years after Lady Di used it, it remains in pristine condition, backed up by its service history, and its odometer indicates 21,412 miles (34,459 km). Skeptic bidders, who will attend the SilverstoneAuctions event on November 12, will also be provided with good-quality pictures of the late Princess using the blue-blooded car, which is expected to change hands at between £50,000 and £60,000 ($62,155-$74,585).
