Hyundai to open first standalone Genesis store in Seoul
Hyundai has announced plans to open the first-ever standalone store for its newly minted Genesis luxury brand by the end of the year.
Hyundai confirmed on Thursday that it will open its first dedicated Genesis store in Seoul later this year. The dealership will be located in South Korea’s largest shopping mall, which is slated to open by the end of 2016.
According to Reuters, Tesla is also in negotiations to open a storefront in the Starfield Hanam mall.
Launched late last year, Hyundai’s Genesis brand will take on industry stalwarts like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Genesis will launch with a flagship sedan known as the G90, as well as a smaller sedan called the G80. A compact, BMW 3 Series-rivaling sports sedan is also in the works.
Hyundai has not announced any standalone Genesis stores for the United States, but the company will begin selling the luxury brand out of current Hyundai dealerships this year.
