The fleet of desirable cars in Australia featuring various Police logos splashed across their paintwork has increased yet again, with the addition of a 2016 Audi S7 Sportback.
New South Wales Police are the custodians in this instance, adding to the likes of the McLaren 650S, Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, Porsche 911 Carrera, Ford Mustang and others that the force has used since 2014.
The Sportback will spend the next 12 months on the beat around Wollongong’s southern suburbs and at the relatively new Lake Illawarra Local Area Command headquarters.
And like the aforementioned cars that have come and gone before it, the S7 is all about community and youth engagement programs.
So despite the S7’s more-than-capable 331kW/550Nm 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 and 4.6-second 0-100km/h time, this particular Audi won’t be chasing any baddies or appearing in the mirrors of offending motorists.
If you’re wondering why the livery doesn’t follow the norm for NSW Police patrol or pursuit cars, that’s because the design was chosen through Audi Australia’s social media streams last year.
“We are pleased to continue to support the NSW Police Force as they engage with the youth and wider community in the Lake Illawarra region,” Audi Australia Managing Director, Andrew Doyle, said. “The Audi S7 Sportback has a striking presence, thanks to its sophisticated design and the sound of its extraordinary twin-turbo V8 engine, and so it is perfectly suited to making an impact at the various events it will attend throughout the course of the next 12 months.”
Lake Illawarra LAC Commander, Superintendent Zoran Dzevlan agreed, saying the S7 Sportback would “encourage people of all ages to introduce themselves to local police, using the car itself to help start up a conversation.”
Should you wish to purchase your own Audi S7 Sportback, sans police livery, prices start from $180,716 plus on-road costs.
