Porsche’s Best-Selling Model Could Be Facing A Recall: Blame Volkswagen

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Did you really think the luxury brands would be safe? Over the weekend it was revealed that Volkswagen went out of its way to hide the dirtiness of its cars, specifically models 2009 and newer equipped with 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engines. That’s almost 500,000 cars facing a pollution-related recall and that number could grow according to The Detroit News. The EPA is now going to look at the company’s diesel 3.0-liter V6. This is bad news because those engines sit in numerous Audis and the Porsche Cayenne. Said Audis are the Q5, A6, A7 and A8. Welcome to the party.

In addition to more cars being recalled the extra vehicles would add more to the automaker’s total fine, with $7 billion already set aside by VW to pay whatever the EPA orders. Having to recall cars is never good, especially luxury cars. Audi is locked in an eternal struggle with Germany’s other luxury brands, and recalling cars for purposeful polluting doesn’t exactly sway shoppers to your side. The Cayenne is Porsche’s best-selling model, which makes a potential recall worrisome for the luxury brand.

Volkswagen just started apologizing and the EPA is still investigating, so we’ll update you as we get more info. For now, consider all VW-made diesels from 2009 to present suspect.
