The 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus Still Gets Attention From Ferrari Owners

Not to mention a few Lamborghini guys.

Audi was clearly on to something when it launched the first generation R8 back in 2007. It figured something like “Hey, we’ve got the technology and know-how to build a supercar that has performance cred, but can also behave like the rest of our cars in daily driving. Let’s do it!” And the R8 was born. Ferrari took notice. Lamborghini? No need because it already built its own Italian stallion version of the R8, the Gallardo. The R8 was not only a gem to drive around town but served as the “starter supercar” for many. Today’s unboxing review features the 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus, one of the very last of the first-gen R8s built. Don’t know worry – a review of the second generation R8 is on its way soon.

But we felt the first gen R8, specifically the badass V10 Plus, deserved one last moment in the spotlight. Powered by a 5.2-liter V10 with 550 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, the R8 V10 Plus will blast from zero to 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds. Quarter-mile? Try 11.4 seconds at 126 mph. Top speed is an equally nuts 197 mph. There’s something else anyone who’s interested in purchasing a brand new R8 needs to consider: there are some killer deals to be had on the first gen models, such as this one. Don’t worry. You’ll still go plenty fast. Special thanks to Niello Audi-Sacramento for letting us film the car.
