The Frankfurt Motor Show is one crazy event.
If you ever get a chance to attend, make sure to bring comfortable shoes as you’ll be walking for days. But anyway, press days at this vast event have drawn to a close and here are our Five Favorite vehicle reveals.
Top 5 Cars of the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show
5. Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo Concept
And let’s start with a Hyundai concept, because you’d be hard pressed to find a more radical looking car in Frankfurt. Ushering in their all-new performance sub-brand is the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept. It features a fuel-cell powertrain that puts out a claimed 884 PS, which is around 871 horsepower. Electricity is sent to four separate motors, one mounted in each wheel. Ensuring a feather-light curb weight it’s also graced with a carbon fiber monocoque structure.
4. 2017 Audi S4
Along with the “plebian” A4 on which the S4 is based, this high-performance four-door is a knockout, with gorgeous new styling inside and out. Ensuring it moves as nicely as it looks, power is provide by a new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. It provides 354 horses and nearly 370 lb-ft of torque! It’s matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and of course quattro all-wheel drive. The new S4 is slated to go on sale in Europe next year. Unfortunately us ‘Muricans will have to wait until 2017 to buy one.
3. Porsche Mission E Concept
Porsche Mission E
Next up, a little something from Porsche. Zuffenhausen’s Mission E Concept is a 600 horsepower electric sedan that offers a claimed 300-mile driving range. But that’s not its only appeal. This Tesla rivaling four-door can blast to 62 miles an hour in just 3.5 seconds.
It’s fast in other ways as well. The battery pack can be recharged to 80 percent capacity in just 15 minutes. That’s like a quarter of an hour or so … I think.
Porsche’s Mission E Concept makes the future of motoring sound bright … and LOOK bland. Why does it resemble a beluga whale beached on a flatbed trailer?
2. 2016 Lamborghini Huracan Spider
Porsche’s sea-mammal inspired supercar may be all sizzle, no steak but the Lamborghini Huracan Spider is a giant hunk of red meat.
This Italian exotic is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 that provides 610 horsepower and 412 lb-ft of torque. But making this car even more exciting is an electrically operated soft roof that can be lowered or raised in just 17 seconds at speeds up to 31 miles an hour. Speaking of velocity, a mile a minute can be yours in around 3.4 seconds.
1. Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept
This beautiful blue Bugatti is the automaker’s Vision Gran Turismo concept. As its name suggests, this rolling sculpture will be making an appearance in the virtual world, in the video game series of the same name. However, that’s the only place it’ll exist because this is purely a design study, one that WILL NOT be making it into production.
It may be something of a throw-away but at least its styling cues will see the light of day. The Vision Gran Turismo’s design elements are coming to a production Bugatti near you at some point in the future.
