[Video] Audi teases at CES its 2016 TT RS taillights featuring OLED tech image

We haven’t had this through the proper, regular channels, as Auto Bild was treated to a quick peek at the Audi TT RS’s all new OLED taillights that also made an appearance at CES in Las Vegas.

By the way, this kind of reminds us of the bickering race between BMW and Audi (the first and second in terms of sales in the global luxury segment) back in 2014 to be the first manufacturer to introduce in series production the laser headlights. That round went over to BMW as it premiered the laser-featured i8 hybrid sports car. And Audi was a little late to the party when it premiered them on the Audi R8 LMX. BMW now again took a home run when it delivered the very first production vehicle equipped with OLED taillights – the M4 GTS – and Audi is once more playing the catch-up game as it will deliver the next iteration of the high-performance TT RS. Auto Bild representatives were among the select few to actually see these OLED taillights, and as such they were also treated to a quick view of the rear part of the coupe. We’re betting the new tech will note make it as a standard feature on the TT RS in order to keep the price in check.

By the way, the TT RS is reportedly gearing up to come forth with a turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine (the same as before, actually) boasting this time around 395 horsepower (400 PS). Mated to a dual-clutch auto transmission it will send power to the ubiquitous quattro all-wheel drive and the 0 to 62 mph run (100 km/h) should be handled in four seconds – with top speed electronically governed at the known 155 mph (250 km/h) level.
