There is a gate fee, though i don’t recall how much (maybe $3 a car), but there are several playground areas there that would probably be suited for the kids – In the summer time (not sure how late into the summer, though), there is a living historic farm with people demonstrating life from lincoln’s time that the kids would probably enjoy – Also how close it is to holiday world in. Pond and a convention-size barn. But preservationists saved the west baden resort, which was near collapse 15 years ago. Volunteer actors actually “hold up” the train like from the old days.

My kids love the train there! they usually have a few dates throughout the year when they have a train robbery, too. The depression closed west baden, but the other casinos in town operated until 1949. I know holiday world would probably be a great place but it looks like besides that there is not much else in the area.
